Craniosacral Balancing

Your spinal fluid runs between your Cranium (head) and Sacrum (end of spinal system). The spinal fluid is formed in our very early embryonic stage and holds our life force.  I use CT to activate and expand the pulsation of the spinal fluid so that it loosens up blockages.

A brief history

It is this inner regulation system, that works from the inside out, that possesses the information of health and healing. Through activating and expanding the fluids we tap into this inner knowledge

We gently move blockages from within and restore your well being.

The origin of Craniosacral Therapy (CST) lies in the field of Osteopathy. In the early 1900s Dr. W. G. Sutherland discovered that the human head bones were moved by some kind of rhythmic breathing pulse of the body. During his studies he discovered that all cells of the body needed to express this respiratory motion in order to maintain health. He called it the “breath of life”.

How I work with you

Craniosacral Therapy (CS) is a hands-on therapy. It works with and on the fluid which is flowing between your head (cranium) and the end of your spine (sacrum). Your craniosacral (CS) system developed while you were still and embryo in your mother’s womb. At that time in the CS system nerve, conduits sprouted from your very young brain. They were then connected to all the organs and cells in your body.

In this very delicate system traumatic events, both before birth and during life, are stored in the form of blockages. These blockages inhibit the proper development or healthy functioning of your body. Events which can cause this are e.g. falls, accident and emotionally disturbing life events. As a CST therapist I can detect and treat such conditions.

With my hands I apply gentle and caring therapeutic touches to your bones, body tissues and muscles. As I do this I sense the areas where your craniosacral flow, your “breath of life”, is most blocked and cannot move freely. This is where the healing is required most. Through further gentle touching I’m then able to treat these blockages. As a result the natural fluid flow through your body is restored – step by step.

Who can be treated?

CST is suitable for all age groups – from young babies to growing children to adults. It is worth knowing that generally the treatment of children leads to results more rapidly than it does with adults. This is easily explained: adults have accumulated more traumatic events during their lives than children have.

What can be treated?

Here is a list of just some of the specific conditions that I can treat with craniosacral therapy:

  • Birth traumas, cry babies, feeding problems
  • Incomplete moulding (self correction) of the cranium (head)
  • Learning disabilities
  • Migraines and headaches
  • Chronic back and neck pain
  • Post-Traumatic stress (accidents, whiplash, panic attacks, birth traumas)
  • Stress and tension related problems
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Central nervous system disorders
  • Emotional difficulties
  • Digestive disorders and colic
  • Temperomanidibular joint dysfunction (TMJ)
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

What will you feel?

As you lay fully clothed on the therapy table you may feel release sensations. This can be in the form of tingling, heat or sometimes even a slight pain throughout your body. Experiences after a session may vary. You could e.g. feel very relaxed, greatly invigorated or more in touch with your body. Pain and tension may have diminished or gone altogether. Your mood and your general well-being may improve. It is also possible to experience that your body is going through a time of reorganisation, as your affected organs re-generate, and this may include some discomfort. Generally you will notice a change in your condition over a period of time. It takes time for your body to heal itself.
